The ABCD’s of success are a set of principles that can help guide you towards achieving your goals and living a fulfilling life. By focusing on these four key areas – attitude, belief, commitment, and discipline – you can develop the mindset and habits necessary to overcome obstacles and reach your full potential.
These principles were something I always focused on when it came to my professional life but it wasn’t until recently I began to apply them to my personal health and wellness. My children had been worrying about my health for a while as I continued to gain weight. When my daughter and I went on a trip to Niagara on the Lake, I could barely walk around the street with her as I was so sore and out of breath.
Between that experience, hitting an all time high on the scale and a breast cancer scare, I realized I needed to make a change.I didn’t recognize myself in my own body anymore. Since applying the ABCD’s of Success to my health and wellbeing I have begun to recognize myself again.
Believing in yourself through a health and wellness journey is crucial because it helps you stay motivated, overcome obstacles, and achieve your goals. Though this is also a very hard part of this journey, any setbacks can often come with doubting yourself and your abilities. Continuing to have faith in myself has improved my mental health and helped give me a more positive outlook on life.
Staying committed can be hard at times and when it is I like to think about who I am doing this for… yes myself, but mostly my children. Taking care of my health has had such a positive impact on all the areas of my life while increasing my energy and improving my physical and mental wellbeing.
I recently completed the Toronto Women’s 10K Walk which was a goal of mine, staying committed was a huge part of achieving this goal. I am energized and ready for my next event, maybe I’ll even run one!

Discipline helps you to stay consistent with your habits and maintain focus on your goals even when faced with challenges and setbacks. Sticking with 3 goals for my everyday life has helped me to stay disciplined.
Get some movement in, whether it is walking or working out having some sort of movement through my day is top priority.
All the protein, when making a health change, eating enough protein is extremely important so I make sure my meals consist of a good amount of protein.
Being prepared is so important when being disciplined and sticking to your goals which is why I make sure to have healthy meals easily on hand for myself everyday.
Adopting the ABCD’s of success – Attitude, Balance, Consistency, and Discipline – can help you achieve your health and wellness goals. Remember to approach your journey with a positive attitude, strive for balance in all aspects of life, stay consistent with your efforts, and maintain discipline throughout the process. By incorporating these principles into my lifestyle, I’ve been able to create sustainable habits and enjoy a healthier, happier life.
