Three Reasons to Tune in to the Divorcing Well Podcast

There’s no denying that divorce sucks, but it doesn’t have to be all bad. In fact, it can mark the beginning of a brilliant second act where you are truly living your best life. This is why I am starting the Divorcing Well podcast; to go through the journey with you.

Three Reasons to Tune in to the Divorcing Well Podcast

Divorce is one of the most stressful life events people ever experience. On the Holmes-Rahe stress scale, it’s listed as the second biggest stressor with a score of 73, just below the death of a spouse at 100.

In my more than two decades of practice, I know the toll a marital breakup takes on families  mentally, emotionally, financially and spiritually. It often feels like your world is falling apart and that there’s no light at the end of the tunnel.

There’s no denying that divorce sucks, but it doesn’t have to be all bad. In fact, it can mark the beginning of a brilliant second act where you are truly living your best life.

I created the Divorcing Well podcast to give you the knowledge and inspiration to manage the rough days and the tools that will help you heal and move through the various stages of grief that go with divorce. Think of it as a digital support hub that approaches divorce from a holistic perspective, recognizing that beyond the legal considerations, this major life shift affects every aspect of your life.

You will hear interviews with divorce experts such as lawyers, therapists, mediators, coaches, matchmakers, and financial planners. I’ll also be talking to other professionals who can help support and empower you through this challenging time, including nutritionists, personal trainers, reiki practitioners and stylists. You’ll also meet people just like you who have been through divorce and have come out the other side with renewed strength and an optimistic outlook on life.

Navigating a challenging path is easier when you have a tribe in your corner who can steer you through the rough patches and light your way in the darkest hours.

Here are the top three reasons you’ll want to tune in to the Divorcing Well podcast:

A unique and holistic perspective

The podcast will, of course, arm you with relevant legal information and answer the most frequently asked questions I hear from clients, such as, Do we have to go to court? Who will get custody of the children and How will our property be divided?

But because it’s called Divorcing Well, the podcast will also bring a wellness component that addresses the whole person. People usually hire a lawyer when they go through a separation or divorce, but they often don’t have the resources for other professionals who can provide valuable perspectives and support their journey like coaches, financial advisors and therapists.

All-access pass to experts

Knowledge is empowering, and we’ll be doling out generous helpings, giving you access to accurate information, support and inspiration to help you through this challenging time.

In one of the first episodes, I’ll be talking to a mediator who will walk listeners through what’s involved in a family mediation and highlight the situations it’s best suited to in a separation or divorce.

Divorcing Well will also feature an interview with a psychotherapist who will share tips for what parents should and shouldn’t do to make the divorce process easier on their children. Amid all the emotion in a marital breakup, children’s interests are often inadvertently placed on the back burner, even with well-intentioned parents. You’ll hear why prioritizing their needs is the best choice and one that will pay dividends in the years to come.

Self-care tips for the win

With all demands on your time  work, home and social obligations , it can feel selfish to carve out time to go to the gym or get a massage. But maintaining a healthy mind and body is critical, especially when you’re going through the emotional roller coaster that is divorce. I’ve said it before, but it bears repeating: self-care is not selfish.

On the podcast, you’ll hear from a burnout expert, a nutritionist and other experts on the importance of reframing self-care as a necessity, not a luxury. Even Barbie is getting into self-care wellness as Mattel launches a new line of dolls geared to introducing girls to the benefits of self-care through play.

Divorce brings an enormous amount of stress. Everything important to you is at risk  your children, home and often, your financial security. Taking care of your needs exercising, meditation, journaling, and the like enables you to do a better job taking care of all the people and to-dos on your list.

Divorcing Well officially launches March 25. You can listen on Apple, Spotify, or wherever you get your favourite podcasts.
